# What is a Normal Distribution?

This is a pattern of statistical data distribution. When graphed as a histogram, certain data forms a bell-shaped curve, commonly referred to as normal distribution. They are symmetrical and have a single central peak at the mean. That is why I taught all me students to use a grade calculator. The normal distribution is important in statistics due to several reasons. Some of these include:

- The hypothesis assessment assumes the content is in a normal arrangement.
- The central limit theory is one of the most complicated things to learn about central distribution. Most students have a hard time learning it.
- Both linear and non-linear regression assumes the residual follows a normal distribution.

A normal distribution has two parts. These main parameters will be discussed below. They are referred to as the mean and the standard deviation. I remember learning about the mean and standard deviation in basic statistic classes. I always made sure my students knew how to use a high school GPA calculator. Also, when it was time to write my dissertation, I had to employ these measures of central tendency

**M****ean:**

- Statisticians use the mean as an assessment of the tendency that is central. When I was a teacher, I used normal distribution to rank the standardized test scores of my students.
- The mean establishes which students performed well on the assessment and performed poorly. The ones that scored poorly will have to receive remediation or extra tutoring in the future. You can create groups of students who did not score well and then work with them on the poorly scored skills.

**Standard deviation:**

- The standard deviation calculates how the data is dispersed to the mean.
- I would consider the mean to be the most important part on mornal distribution. The standard deviaton is a great metric, but I would not consider it to be as important as the mean.
- If you have any questions about the mean or if you are having a hard time learning how to calculate it, I am sure that one of your teachers with help you.
- If you need help learning advanced metrics of normal distribution then you can enroll in an advanced statistics course. Some high schools have them but almost all colleges have them. They will help you increase you knowledge of statiscs and become a math wizard.
- Also, there are a lot of resources online that will help you learn about the standard deviation and mean. Well, that is about it for this article. I have very fond memories of teaching statistics to my students.

**Conclusion**

Refers to a statistical data distribution pattern. When graphed as a histogram, most data creates a bell-shaped curve known as a normal curve or normal distribution. Normal distributions are symmetrical, with one peak at the mean of the data. The contour of the curve is bell-shaped. The spread of a distribution is determined by the standard deviation. The smaller the deviation, the more concentrated the data. If you have any questions or concerns, just leave them in the comment section below. I will get back to you as soon as I can.
